Steps To Order A Stone Monument

Typical Stone Monument Timeline

  • Contact DPJ office to arrange an in-field or office meeting to discuss ideas, cemetery options and budget.  Check out some examples in our Stone Gallery.
  • Ideally, come prepared with details of the Right of Interment holder (needed to have any memorial plan approved) and the plot site location.  Don't worry if not known, our team can assist.
  • Agree monument concept - DPJ team works with you to refine your memorial details.  We will prepare a QUOTE (including the base memorial price, accessories and any cemetery fees) and a MONUMENT PLAN.
  • If a draft inscription is available, we'll also prepare a Headstone and other design work ORDER & LAYOUT DRAFT for your review.
  • Accept offer - Communicate your approval and DPJ sends INVOICE and documentation such as the CCAV form to be signed by the ROI holder.
  • Pay deposit / outstanding amount - DPJ issues a receipt and outlines next steps.
  • DPJ commence any stone ordering and preparation upon receipt of a deposit or full payment.
  • Allow approx 13 weeks for stone preparation (if stone is not onsite), 4-6 weeks if stone is immediately available.
  • At your convenience, give consideration to your preferred inscription. The team is available for any assistance here.
  • Forward your proposed inscription and any design features.
  • DPJ team send a formal layout for sign-off or amendments.

Ideally, for a full monument, aim to have your inscription drafted, discussed and approved within the 6-8 weeks after deposit has been paid. Sooner, if stone is already on-site

  • Weeks 10-13, the memorial inscription and other stone works are completed by the DPJ team.
  • Installation is then scheduled from week 13 onwards (guide only, can be influenced by weather, approval timings etc)
  • Picture of the installed monument is emailed and any outstanding payments become due.
